Artist Statement

My artwork stems from personal questions regarding identity and metaphysical philosophy. The result is a mesh of historical and religious symbolism, contemporary popular culture, and autobiography. The imagery then becomes narrative, layered in meaning and open to individual interpretation. Because of my fascination with the relationship between science and theology, I often include aspects “sacred” geometry as subject matter. I create work in a variety of mediums, and when given the chance, I gravitate towards strange, untraditional, or found materials as inspiration. I am fascinated by the materiality and textures that exist in my finished pieces, and I often use glitter to achieve certain effects. Thus, much of my art looks like scenes taken out of a surrealistic science fiction film.
