Mexico’s Education System
- The Mexican education system consists of three levels: primary, secondary and higher education.
- Basic education accounts for about 81% of the total number of students receiving school services.
- Federal, state and local governments provide 93%; while private school account for about 7% of basic education.
- In 1993 the Mexican government made it mandatory for students to attend primary school (ages 6-14 years old 92%; ages 15-19 years old 47%).
