This article is concerned that Pakistan’s anti-terrorist efforts will danger online speech on social media, much as in North Korea. It does mention however the recent upheaval by the Human Rights Campaign of the law that banned Pakistanis from watching YouTube.
However, Pakistan is attempting to introduce several different bills that would allow control and censorship of Internet materials, but would allow the government to recognize terrorist agendas or propaganda. These bills are known as the Fair Trial Act, which expands the rights of security agencies to monitor electronic communications and the Cyber Security Council Bill which establishes a council of experts to monitor international surveillance and hacking.
