Kanye West. Dubbed himself the “greatest rockstar on the planet”. Others prefer “Obama’s abomination” or “greatest jackass on the planet”. Regardless, everyone recognizes that he is a musical genius. Undoubtedly one of the most influential in the post Y2K era. His name alone has structured so much of modern pop culture. Everything from tight pants to the way we speak to pushing popular sonic barriers.

Kanye has recorded 7 solo studio albums and 5 of them went platinum. Time and time again, he has always been a futurist in the fashion world. He brought retro Jordans, tight pants, and long t shirts to pop culture. He has also been a major influence to many of those pop culture artists that we listen to today. Some of them include today’s superstars Drake, J Cole, and Kendrick Lamar. Kanye has proved over and over that he is a genius. He has ideas that could really help the world.

What is most impressive to me about Kanye is his vulnerability. He is 100% himself no matter what. All his mistakes and successes are constantly magnified. He is on such a high pedestal that every single decision he makes is either ridiculed or praised. Not only is he aware of this, but he allows it in his life. It translates into all of his art whether it’s music, film, or fashion. Kanye has been in the game for more than 15 years, yet he consistently tries to better the world through his artistic abilities. That’s all I hope to do in life.

Here is the album cover My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. This is regarded as his best album to date.

He also made an accompanying 35 minute short film entitled Runaway. The photo on the bottom are a collection of screenshots from the film.
