Pizza Party
The pizza party on Friday the 13th was actually pretty informative. Who knew that many of the professors had so much going on in their lives and have produced so much! Watching them as they showcased their artwork and trips around the globe inspired me to do more with my work. Their determination in their projects really made me think about what I plan on doing in my future and to be honest, I’m really excited for it now. Before, I was a bit skeptical about becoming an artist when I grew up. After seeing so many of their accomplishments, it has motivated me to keep going and be as bold as I can be. I shouldn’t care what critics think about my work, as long as I am happy doing what I love to do. I’m also really glad that I can actually work with something in the creative arts. My favorite presentations of the evening were Jimmy Luu and my photography professor, Sybil Miller. I was fascinated by Jimmy Luu’s use of minimal design in his graphic design and I was impressed with all that he has worked on. I was also very impressed by my photography professor’s video. “Alexander’s Elephants”, in my opinion was truly great. Her use of visuals was perfect with the music and created an oriental vibe. It was perfect. I am truly grateful to be able to contact these wonderful professors during the year and I am lucky to have one of them as my own teacher. Overall, I believe the pizza party was a success. It was not only informative, it was motivating.

Introduction x Ambitions & Goals
Ever since I could remember, I had always been intrigued by all types of photography. I had always dreamed of either being in a magazine or taking pictures for as I would call them when I was 4, “famous people”. My dreams were big, but I was determined. Throughout my years of growing up, I became more and more interested in fashion photography. All of the photographs I had seen in my mother’s and aunt’s fashion magazines made me want to photograph beautiful women. My dreams were filled with bright lights and runway shows. I wanted to be known worldwide. While I was in middle school, however, I discovered tumblr. An entire new world of photography opened up to me. When I was younger, I hadn’t really paid much attention to any other forms of photography besides fashion and landscape. Tumblr became my gateway to a new creative mindset. I became obsessed with the film look. I remember frantically looking for vintage cameras to recreate what I saw online. All throughout high school I would practice to become a better photographer to produce similar images like the I would see on the social media site. While constructing my portfolio, I was able to work with other photographers, who I later became very good friends with, who also had the same aspirations I had. Because I had been creating a vast networking system, I was also able to photograph various bands in the Houston area, adding to my portfolio of candids and portraits. It was because of all the experiences and people that I met, I realized that I really wanted to work with editorials. Magazines like Nylon and Bullet inspired me greatly. I plan to apply for positions in the editorial and advertising fields when I get older. In a way, my dream that I had as a child might actually come true.
