This week’s inspiration comes from a blog I recently ran into, Cookie and Kate. The author, Kate, shares her goals in her about page and I am now considering editing my strategy to give a more in depth understanding of what the goals for my own blog are. Looking through her Instagram feed, I noticed how conversational her comment section is. It seems that she has succeeded in participating in dynamic text with her audience. Khan talks about using dynamic text as a way to express views and feelings related to personal, cultural or social issues (Khan, 2018). Cookie and Kate understands the purpose of the blog and how important it is to relay their point of view and opinions to their viewers in a way that others can relate to. Starting a conversation or replying to questions that followers might have give the author credibility and build trust that makes followers think you are there to answer their questions.
I found that both this blog and the Cookie and Kate blog have narrowed it down to a topic of food, mine being Mexican and hers being vegetarian, but at the same time we both focus on providing a variety of recipes to share and keep the blog interesting with desserts and appetizers (etc). Unity with variety can be difficult but it works in your favor once you have the rhythm going. Something I have learned from her website, is to add more personal memories or just sharing more of my personality with a story related to the food I am making. This could add to the time visitors stay on the site and make myself more relatable to my readers. Implementing these new strategies might work for the better and I look forward to the results.
