I have chosen to grab some inspiration from a similar blogger, Chicano eats. I resonated with Esteban, the author, because of his background and purpose of making food. He talks about how he is part of both the Mexican and American culture here in the United States. Being a first generation to be born in the United States, I find it to be difficult at times to conform to the norms of each culture simultaneously. Choosing food and sharing family recipes is my way of paying tribute to family and the heritage we come from. I always had the food made for me as a kid, my mom and my grandmother would not waste a second to put food on the table. Now is the time I get to show them that I have been paying attention and I will be able to pass along my skills to the generations after me. Khan touches on resources and planning when putting together a social media strategy when he says, “Bear in mind that creating and sustaining even a simple Facebook fan page requires considerable planning and human, financial, and technical resources. For example, it requires regular updates, answers to customer complaints and comments, and the extraction and analysis of the data for better decision making.” I have gone through the Chicano Eats social accounts and it seems that the author has managed to put together a brand centered around family and the food they enjoy with one another. He post quite often with new content to share every couple days as well as responds to as many comments he is able to. I’ll be following his story to continue grabbing inspiration to help improve my own brand. I was surprised that the week I made flautas de papa, I visited his site and found that he recently posted a recipe for tacos de papa. Very similar ideas but different varieties. I’ll look forward to what he creates in the future.
