About Me

I am currently a junior at St. Edward’s University working toward a major in Global Studies and a minor in Spanish. Through my major, I have taken courses in the fields of politics, history, geography and economics, but focused on an international level. I have gained a number of skills, which are explained further on the “Skills Profile” page, through not only my course work, but through several work experiences as well. I have spent a number of summers working on a farm, harvesting produce and selling it at local farmers markets. I began to see the international trade aspect of agriculture by volunteering at the United States Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service. I have learned about non-profit campaigning and fundraising by working as a caller for the St. Edward’s Fund Phone-a-thon and working in the Office of University Advancement at St. Edward’s. I have also served as an intern and peer group leader for the CULF global water rights workshops where we taught students about issues dealing with water and trans-boundary aquifers, and volunteered as a research assistant for two graduate students undergoing water quality research in Texas.

As a global studies major who has recently developed a strong interest in environmental issues, I would like to pursue a career that aims to solve some of the most urgent issues of the century, such as climate change, perhaps by working for an NGO or entering law or politics.
