Join RecycleMania 2017, a Dorm v. Dorm Recycling Competition

Are you ready for RecycleMania? Now it’s time to act and promote waste reduction for a greener Hilltop! Throughout the month of April there will be a friendly competition among the dorms, and the dorm that recycles the most will win great prizes.

RecycleMania is part of a large-scale competition among universities across the country. The university that recycles the most on a per capita basis will gain national recognition and receive an award, along with the right to host the traveling trophy for the coming year. The overall goals for RecycleMania are:

  1. Motivate students and staff to increase recycling efforts and reduce waste generation.
  2. Generate attention and support for campus recycling programs.
  3. Encourage colleges to measure and benchmark recycling activity in their effort to improve their programs over time.
  4. Have a fair and friendly competition.

During the second week of April between 5-7 pm Students for Sustainability will be visiting the dorms to educate the residents on recycling, so stay on the look out for them to ask any questions you might have.

And while the competition is among our student residence halls, it’s a great reminder for all of us to do our part. Happy recycling!
