#ReflectionSection?

Wow, this year’s been an interesting one to say the least… Time to reflect? OH GEEZE here we go…

@PrestonLeeHall (beginning of semester)

1. I know everything about social media

2. There’s nothing anyone can teach me about the world wide web

3. I was a complete MORON!

#PersonalLearningProject

I’ve really learned to understand how important my online presence really is… BUT thankfully there are no #mugshots of me buzzing around the internet! (Or at least that I know of… #awkward) In all honesty… PAY ATTENTION to how you are presented on the internet it will help you in the #realworld! And absolutely NOT! I’m not talking about that lame MTV reality show that is still on the air for some reason…

HERE WE GO PEOPLE!

#LifeChangers

Google Analytics: I’ve learned more about how this program can really help out a business. It’s a fantastic way to really zero in on your audience and keep them coming back for more! Not only does it allow you to view your audience BUT it also shows where it is in the world. This is a great way to PAY ATTENTION!

#TheBuzzKills

1. Diigo

2. Delicious

Yes, I know… These programs “suck” “lame” Hate em”… I’ve heard it all and so has my professor! BUT they really can help and they have really allowed me to find fellow bloggers that I really enjoy their posts! Don’t believe this is the work of Diigo and Delicious? Check out my #MagicFinds yourself then fools!

New materials…?

New audience…?

New blogs to follow…?

Not such  a bad program right?

#PrivateTweetTweets

I love that you can create a private list on twitter to try and get the attention of somone without them realizing it. It’s a great way to start paying attention to what you are posting as well as trying to benefit from the content you share by grabbing the attention of your possible “future employer”

#RealWorldClient

1. They appreciate your help

2. Prepare for the worst… Make sure to have numerous ways to contact client

3. Remember they have jobs and stuff they have to do!

In all honesty I wish I could have done things differently, but ya know what? It’s not time to reflect anymore on the past, I’m looking to the future. This blog doesn’t represent my full potential and anyone who meets me knows I’m fabulous. There’s a a place for me in this new crazy digital world and I’ll find it. Just wait and see…

Until (there won’t be a) next time

You know you love me,

XOXO

A Picture is Worth 1000 “Likes”

We all know that in the year 2014 people aren’t necessarily taking the time to stop. look. read. reflect. interact. Umm…. yeah it doesn’t work that way. With people having the attention span of Dory from Finding Nemo, we have to get more realistic and appeal to the audience!

Facebook is a quick and easy way to get engagement with your styling business. It’s actually super easy and hello? A 4 year old could do it! So since the articles are not what people are wanting, we are gonna give em pictures! Pictures? Yes… pictures! When fashion and styling are the topics Facebook is more than ready to assist with the measurements. Not with a measuring tape, but with your audience. For example…

Let’s just say one of your clients who has #HORRIBLE style get’s a styling makeover by your styling business. Once your styling magic has been complete… ADVERTISE ADVERTISE ADVERTISE! Do a simple “Before & After” album that allows your audience to see what you actually can do. Show them what your made of and let them see how good you are! Uploading a simple “Before & After” picture of one of your clients would be a great way to score likes and comments, bringing traffic to your Facebook page. Let’s just say you tag your client in the picture. Not only will your clients see the picture, but all of her friends and family will as well.  There is no such thing as bad press so bring on the pictures and put your business out there!

It can be challenging sometimes to actually dedicate the time to social media at times. BUT don’t look at it as work, look at it as something you love to do and something that will help your brand image! If used the right way Facebook can really help you boom your business! If you are dressing a client for an event… Take pictures of them before they go to the event! Have them send you pictures of their evening that you can use to your benefit and get the pictures out there. (With their permission of course…)

People aren’t so willing to take the time to read as much as they were in let’s say the 1950’s? So let’s keep up with the times. Post pictures people! Engage with your audience! If they comment respond. If they like, take the time to visit their page and do the same. It’s all about networking and relationships!

XOXO

Out with the Old… “Insta” with the new!

There comes a time in everyones life where it’s time to throwout all of the horrible fashions of past years mistakes. I know I know… Everyone hates going in their closets, ya know… To dig out and clump together all of the horrible fashion mistakes of the past into a trash bag and off the front balcony! BUT oh is it absolutely necessary! A fun way to play up a #wardrobeintervention would be to play it up on social media!

INSTAGRAM- #BlastFromThePast & #TBT

While cleaning out all of the “has been trends” and the “who would ever wear this dress” it can get rather depressing and quite time consuming based on how large of past mistakes. For some, this might take a few minutes… For others, this could take days, months, years, CENTURIES!!! My point? This needs to be fun so make it  a game! A social media game!

A perfect way to clean out your wardrobe would be to use Instagram to your benefit. Why not knock two birds with one stone? Or in this case 2 shoes in one box? Here’s the plan, stan! Start by taking a picture of your horribly organized, not so up to date closet just to have on your phone. Then let the throwing away begin! As you are clearing out your closet and separating your belongings into the “Keep It” and “Away with It” piles here’s where the fun can really begin. As you go on organizing, throughout the process pick out your absolute worst & best outfits! Don’t hold back! If there is an extremely outdated article that speaks mistake as it’s first language, pull it to the side and start another pile called the #BlastFromThePast pile! Select your top absolute favorite/bad clothes and put them on (if they still fit)! Try on and “model” your absolute worst wardrobe selections from the past and take photographs of these horrendous fashion decisions. Take a few cute pictures, a few smiling, a few vogueing, and so on and so forth. Use the pictures to upload to Instagram and have some fun with this not so fun closet cleaning activity and MAKE IT FUN! This is a really fun topic that a lot of people can relate to. Added bonus?? A picture is worth 1000 words! People love pictures of horrible fashion, probably even more than when people look good in clothes. Do this on a Tuesday or Thursday in order to #TBT an already popular #trend on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Use this to your advantage! This should be a quick easy way to get likes on Instagram and a few more followers.

As the closet begins to open and useable space becomes more abundant begin to put back all of the clothes that you are keeping away, and throw out the “Away with It” pile. Even if it’s over the balcony 42nd stories up! (Trust me… It’s better this way)! When you have organized and fully hung all of your beautiful clothes up that you are keeping photograph your closet as it looks after all of the clearing closet activities come to an end. This is an extremely easy way to include a before & after picture to your Instagram. People love a good transformation! Again, use the #TBT for “Transformation Tuesday” or “Transformation Thursday”! If it’s already there and trending go ahead and use it to your advantage!

So what have we learned? Even though there will be room for open judgements blasted all over social media for your horrible fashion #BlastFromThePast, it’s a fun and great way to get people engaged! Remember you are not the only one who has memories! Everyone has memories and this is a great way to spark fashion memories of the past and initiate conversation and have more engagement with your audience!

Electronic Thread?

Electronic threads? You might be wondering what is that, such a strange idea… Is this even possible??? In the year 2014 this doesn’t sound strange in the least. In fact, it sounds like something that surprisingly isn’t a real thing yet but more of an idea. (Although electronic sewing thread would be totally #everything) Fashion nowadays has no limits and neither does technology! Here’s an interesting thought… What happens when we combine the two? The two are becoming more and more intertwined every single day as both industries are striving to discover the “next big thing” in both fashion and technology. Yes of course we’ve seen the #smartwatch but what about the future of actual clothing? Is this even possible? What happens when we combine fashion design with technological designs? This is the future and it isn’t very far off my fashionable technology loving friends. Before we know it there will be things we’ve never thought possible. Things such as T-Shirts that project moving visuals, Glasses that remember and think for us, and pants that maintain a certain temperature catered to their surrounding environment. It’s an exciting time for both fashion and technology. As fashion and technology continue to advance, there is no telling the two industries will combine into one. CUTECIRCUITxSXSW_NSCUTECIRCUITxSXSW_NSCUTECIRCUITxSXSW_NS
