Social Media: Will it make The Texas Lunar Festival brighter than ever?

As we approach the middle of February, it can only mean one thing, the 17th Annual Texas Lunar Festival is approaching! The festival will be held at Amity Park in Houston’s International District on February the 16th. The Texas Lunar Festival is known as the largest celebration of the Chinese community in the South Central United States, celebrating not only the Chinese New Year but also, a variety of ethnic groups as well. The festival attracted over 100,000 attendees last year, Sarah Rosen from PRWeb claims. The festival offers a number of foods, vendor booths, entertainment, carnival rides, games, skill demonstrations, music, and dancing. Regardless of age or culture, you are sure to find something that will spark your interest.

If you have been to this festival before then you may notice just a few differences this year. ChinaTownBiz.com, a company that functions as an online coupon and shopping guide for all subscribers, has announced that it will be the official media trade and partnership sponsor for the festival this year. What this means is that this already large and well-known annual festival may be getting much more media attention. Which is sure to attract even larger numbers and more sponsors than prior years.

ChinaTownBiz.com updates their site daily so that its visitors have current information on sale items, news, and personal information. ChinaTownBiz.com is a strong believer in social media and intends to grow their presence online by using Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Linkedin. According to Sarah Rosen, “ChinaTownBiz.com goal is to become one of the leading provider of Chinatown B2C coupon based shopping services and information over the Internet”.

This Texas Lunar Festival is hoping to be brighter than ever with ChinaTownBiz.com promoting them. However, since the Texas Lunar Festival has just recently launched a brand new website, Facebook account, and Twitter account they have been a bit slow on gaining an audience. With only a week until the festival ChinaTownBiz.com does not seem to be drawing as big of an audience to any of the new social media sites of The Texas Lunar Festival. The new social media tactics may be a bust for The Texas Lunar Festival, only time will tell.

Regardless, after you have survived Valentines Day on the 14th and are looking for something to do next Saturday, keep in mind The Texas Lunar Festival in Houston. Check out all of the entertainment inspired by multiple cultures, snatch up some great deals of souvenirs, or enjoy the variety of food and performances.  If you are unable to make it to Houston in time be sure to still check out The Texas Lunar Festival’s new Website, Facebook, and Twitter account and tell them what you think about the new layouts. Enjoy The Year Of The Snake!
