Just Keep Snorkeling

Just Keep Snorkeling

After working on coral restoration in Kho Samui, we traveled around the Island snorkeling to see a few of the coral reefs in the area. We went to a total of three sites to scuba including one cove with hidden caves. Each site was different in it’s visibility and salinity levels as well as the depth of the coral, for the most part the sites where shallow putting us very close to the coral allowing us to see the ecosystem and community. Among the coral we saw various schools of fish, sea cucumbers, and sea urchins.

Below our some of the underwater photos one of my peers took:

On our way back from the first day of snorkeling, we raced against the beginning of a typhoon that hit the coast of Taiwan, which made for a very interesting boat ride.
