I did make some changes to my sequence book. I decreased the number of pages from 16 to 12. I also made it look more like an actual book by starting the first image on the right side and ending it with the last image on the left side. Based off the confusion of many, I took out all the close-up images and solely kept the images of the paths. I rearranged them to look like they were continued or being followed through. I arranged them based off the content of the image. I tried to match images that had rocks to others that had rocks or ones with dying trees to others with dying trees. I also arranged them based off the path direction in the image. In this case, if the images were swapped the sequence would look a little weird because there would be images of paths that don’t look like they go together because of the direction of paths and the details in the trees or rocks. The images of the dress would also look randomly placed if they were not in the fold out that exposes them in the first place. The beginning image is also specifically placed the look like the viewer is now entering the paths and the ending image is the same tree from a different angle that looks like its closing just like the book. If these images were swapped with some in the middle, they would look completely out of place.

After about 5 failed attempts and about 10 pages of wasted ink jet paper, I was able to figure out the problem and create the prototype below. When I first started printing the odd pages, there was plain paper in the printer underneath the matte paper. The first two pages came out in order but the images were over saturated and purple. The printer picked up three pages at one time and ran them through to print the last odd page. My last odd page ended on the plain paper rather than the matte paper because the printer flips the paper over inside. Ignoring the color at this point and just trying to figure out how to get them to print I tried to solely print the last odd page that I needed. I think because it is under print booklet it wouldn’t let me print a specific spread. I decide to start all over and print the odd pages again. I took out the plain paper and solely placed the matte paper in the printer. The odd pages printed out in order, although the color was still very bad. I placed the pages back into the printer in the appropriate order so that I could print the even pages. I send the even pages to print and the first page came out but the printer once again took my last two odd pages and ran them through at the same time so the second even page printed on the third odd page rather than the second odd page resulting in out of order images. I realized I have to start all over again, but this time I decided to fix the color while I am at it. The lab monitor and I tried to figure out why the images were coming out over saturated and purple even though all the correct boxes were checked. After a while, we change the printer settings to point determination. I run a test matte page to see how the color would come out and what was supposed to be a blank white page came out gray. I decide to try something else. I look at the color management section and it says underneath the “LetInDesign decide” to turn off the color management in the printer settings window. I turn the color management off in the white pop up menu. I end up running the pages one by one, inserting them individually when the printer alerts it’s out of paper to make sure the printer does not take multiple pages at once and it worked because the printer saves the job. The color also came out as normal. In the printing instructions given in class it says “Color mode: EPSON standard” but that needs to be turned off, at least in my case. In the case of printing the fold out page it took two tries because I forgot to click the correct printer and make the borders white.

The size corrections I made last time ended up working great. For the most part the fold out fit with the rest of the book after a little trimming. This prototype does have staple holes because I accidentally stapled the book in the wrong order but other than that it came out okay.
