Knowing your audience

The movies that I’d watch with my parents are not necessarily the movies that I would want to watch with my friends. The same concept can be applied to the people you interview. I probably wouldn’t ask interviewees the same questions that I would ask close friends, or even speak to them the same way. You have know who you’re talking to receive a viable answer. Questions cannot be too specific or engineered to produce a certain answer, because your audience may not receive it well. In the circumstance of the campus engagement guide, we need to be able to interview various people in our orgs, while being cognizant of our audience.
