To start off, there are many organizations around the world that are focusing and aiming to end food waste. Here is a list from the foodtank website that provides you with 59 organizations fighting food loss and waste. Since becoming aware of food waste and it as a global issue, I find it important to become knowledgeable of all the organizations out there aiming to end food waste because, it makes you feel like you’re not alone, there are other people out there with the same goal as you, and you learn more about this global issue and what you can do.

For me, one organization that has stood out is Feedback. Feedback is an organization that was started in 2009 by founder Tristram Stuart with the mission being “working hard to combat the global food waste scandal.” With the organization started in the United Kingdom, there are three campaigns they have created to combat food waste, Feeding the 5000, Gleaning Network UK, and The Pig Idea. Feeding the 5000, is one of the campaigns that has made it to New York here in America which focuses on bringing together local partners and the community to feed 5000 people. The Pig Idea, was a little harder for me to describe but Feedback sums it up as, “Pigs and humans have coexisted happily for centuries, with pigs feeding on the scraps from our plates, generating more delicious pork to sustain people. The Pig Idea draws attention to a key area where sensible policy and practice could have serious knock-on effects for our planet: if pigs were fed our food waste, carefully treated to make it safe for them to eat, they wouldn’t need to eat feed made from soybeans, grown at a huge cost to the South American rainforest and it’s biodiversity.” I found this campaign to be interesting because I had never thought of pigs being affected by food waste and this campaign brings awareness to the issue. And lastly The Gleaning Network is the one i find most interesting and should be done all over the world. Which is a campaign that takes volunteers to fields where fruits and vegetables are grown and gather the ones that would otherwise go to waste and then redistribute them to charities around the area.

Feedbacks website and the brand as an organization has provided a lot of information on how to help make a change with food waste and even bring awareness to facts I hadn’t known about. I do suggest checking it out and learning more about food waste.
