The idea and actions of government, the regulation of the people and its respective nature, can remind us about how we manage ourselves. Therefore, I will think about an “ideal government” in terms of self-care; I wish to talk about self-governance.
In the 21st century, a popular topic of discussion has been the average decrease in attention span taken place in North America. Of course, there are those brave ones who fight against diseases that unfairly undermine their own concentration skills. Yet those who choose to change their focus after ten seconds could be robbing themselves from what the present offers. A good habit to embrace in modern times is to live in the present for a moment; I would advise others to soak up their surroundings and the people around. Without any external sounds coming from a phone, mp3 player, or any other type of portable technology, take the time to listen what unfolds in front of you and discover new things from the old. The past will naturally fade into the background further and further; live in accordance with time so much that you see the past pass you by and smoothly carry you over to the present. Savor a moment. Rush no more towards the future. The future will come but it could pass you by without you even knowing it. There many aspects of an ideal self-government, like good health, solid financial habits, etc., but patience and stillness is one that is forgotten by many who live in the future and, maybe, are government officials.
Dear me
Don’t be afraid to step out of a path that leads to material riches. Leave the path that you are unsure about and even indifferent about. Get lost in what you feel can make you genuinely happy without taking into account what others expect of you. Listen to your thoughts; give yourself some attention. Stop for a moment and reevaluate your plans and your past. Meditate on your anger, sadness, happiness, and fears. Think and see without neglecting reality. Be humble; don’t try to impress to live up to what people think of you. Accomplish for self-growth and others, but do not accomplish for praise. You’ll make people proud.
