So far the artifact map, cognitive map, and symbol project have been my favorite. For both of these projects I think I did a really good job of coming up with my concepts behind the designs. For my maps, I spent a lot of time figuring out what the best crying spots were in South Austin. For my symbols, I spent a lot of time trying to figure out which animals to use based on how well they could be incorporated with their spirit symbol.
My biggest strength is coming up with my ideas and planning them out. All of my ideas get put down on paper first and I end up spending way too much time on just the brainstorming portion. Obviously I have so much to learn still but I think for where I’m at, I have a pretty good understanding of design and craft.
My biggest weakness is my time management. I come up with lavish ideas and I get really excited but I have to remind myself that I have so much on my plate, more than most of my classmates, and that sometimes my ideas just aren’t possible. I had a lot more ideas in my head for the map project that I wasn’t able to put in my design because of time constraints. Overall, I like my idea and my progress on them thus far.
