Domain IV: Fulfilling Professional Roles and Responsibilities

Artifact 1:
In June 2013, I was accepted into the NASA Johnson Space Center Pre-Service Teacher Institute in which I participated in a week-long program that provided a multitude of workshops on teaching STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) subjects.

Through this experience, I received many resources in space-related science and engineering lessons that I can’t wait to use in a classroom. I also gained Meteorite and Lunar Sample Disk Certification which allows me to send in a request to bring actual samples from space into my school and classroom.

Artifact 2:
I had the honor of being nominated along with a few of my peers as an Exceptional Teacher Candidate to the Quest for Quality collaboration, a project “designed to highlight exemplary quality in university-based teacher preparation programs in Texas.” I was later selected by the Dean of Education at St. Edward’s to be the university’s elementary focused nominee.
The following is the personal narrative I was asked to submit with my nomination.
