Reflection
I was surprised by how enjoyable collage work can be. I feel as if there’s this sense of creative freedom that is unique to the medium as well as room for experimentation. With this module, I’m not trying to capture an emotion, object, or subject- I’m just creating what feels right. It’s refreshing to have almost no boundaries and limitless outcomes. I wanted to work with the elements of South Congress rather than work on them. I removed elements of the environment to create an abstract dreamscape rather than a scene that emulates the elements used. For example, I removed elements such as a barbershop window and manhole cover and created new abstractions of them.
