Previous Work

This past summer was when I began working with paint without fear. Previously, paint had been a daunting medium for me, and I usually created with ink and marker. I feel as if my art from this summer exhibits a shift in myself. My art is now more genuine, free, and unapologetic. The pieces below were both experimental acrylic paintings on gesso primed birch panel. At the time, I did not own any brushes. Yet the desire to create was so overbearing that I disregarded this setback and began to paint with my body. These paintings were mostly an experiment which explored the intense ardor which overcomes me as I create. I appreciate the organic quality of this older work, but my work is now beginning to shift. Now I focus on texture and color mixing rather than the formation of a painting.
