Line Inventory Project #1

The line inventory project was an enjoyable challenge to complete. From the first 75 lines to the final shadow drawing, this project came together like pieces of a puzzle. Looking back on the time I spent completing each step of this project, I realize that each separate part was used to achieve the final larger drawing. My first 75 lines were just me experimenting and trying to figure out what direction I would take my project. After seeing my classmates’ first 75 lines I became inspired to implement different aspects of their work into my second 75 lines. For my second attempt I decided to connect each line and pattern to each other across the 75 boxes. The third step in this project were the contour line drawings. In the first set of drawings  I chose to draw my teapot which I later used as a reference for my sculpture. I made the sculpture out of wire with a cardboard base. My finished sculpture resembled a spaceship which I found to be very interesting. The shadows from the sculpture were casted onto the larger sheet of paper and I traced those shadows to create a composition. Inside the empty spaces of the traced shadows I drew in the different lines I had compiled in my first two 75 line inventories. This produced my final project. I was satisfied with my final piece and with my project overall.
