Things Organized Neatly: A blog

This is a really awesome blog that I found that shows exactly what its title says, things organized neatly in a way that is pleasing to the eye. It is so interesting that pattern in this way can be added to ordinary objects and all of a sudden become beautiful. I had alot of fun looking through this blog so I thought I would share.

Kathy Klein Art

Kathy Klein does some really cool work with flower petal arrangements, which I find very inspirational and connecting to my interest in materials. She creates these radial designs that have a universal beauty that I appreciate. Her work is truly unique and beautiful. I also enjoy the fact that they are fragile in that they are not easily moved and they will not last forever. The remind me of designs one might see if looking through a kaleidoscope.

Ann Agee Ceramic Pattern Assemblages

This is an artist that I think is particularly interesting in that she uses her talents as a ceramicist and applies it to the assemblages of installation art. I myself enjoy the use of everyday materials or techniques that I am familiar with to create beauty using pattern, which is a universal understanding of beauty. I’ve seen this type of assemblage on kitchen walls, where people use plates and bows as decoration instead of using them as functional pieces. This arrangement is very creative and unique to me.

Soo Sunny Park Installations

Capturing Resonance, Collaboration with Spencer Topel (sound) (2011)

Made from brazed chain link fence, Plexiglass, natural light, HolosonicAudio Spotlight panels, low-frequency bass exciters, motion sensor, computer.

This reminds me of the installation work of El Anatsui from the Blanton’s permanent exhibit. It’s similar in how he uses chain linking and the rippling wavy texture. I like the ones next to light sources or windows because the plexiglasss creates an amazing effect on the walls. It’s sort of fantastical and dreamy and beautiful and I like it.

wooden match sculptures, by ryan and trevor oakes

Copy this link into your browser. This is a cool example of the kind of work that really interest me. I love how these artists uses such an everyday material and really highlights the beauty and delicacy of the match. The sculptures they create are very expressive and the repetition of the material is very effective and enough. There is no need to introduce other objects to create interest. It’s all about the match.

This is a cool website I found documenting a show somewhere in Phildelphia. I’ve gotten alot of good ideas from it and there are also some really interesting and original pieces to check out.
