Part 1:

1. Article 1 Main Points:

  • innovators should think more like artists
  • artists will emerge as new business leaders
  • entrepreneurs cannot think of innovation as a process

Article 2 Main Points:

  • artists and entrepreneurs have many similarities
  • both artists and entrepreneurs are driven by passion and think of their job as a choice
  • both must learn to deal with reality
  • artists are focused on their craft rather than making an organization

2. Artists can learn from their entrepreneur cousins that creating a team of people who compliment their abilities can make them successful in making their dreams into their reality. Instead of working independently as artists, creating a network will make the process much easier on the artists.

3. I don’t agree with the idea that artists are entrepreneurs, because they are not doing their job for money or to be extremely successful, they are doing it because it is what they love to do. This is why they do not seek out a team of people to help them like entrepreneurs do, they would rather work independently and know they achieved their dreams on their own.

4.I agree with following artist characteristics: 1(artists are neophiles), 2 (artists are humanists), 3 (artists are craftspeople), 6 (artists are comfortable with ambiguity), 7 (artists are nolistic), 9 (artists are great storytellers), 11 (artists are passionate about their work), 12 (artists are contrarians).

5. Artists “follow their heart”, they are driven by their passion rather than the thought of success.

6. I don’t feel artists veer towards the demands of the market. I feel that artists do whatever they want which can be driven by numerous amounts of factors such as feelings, relationships, their surroundings, etc.

Part 2:

1. I got a score of 4.13 grit, so I would conclude that I do have grit, but I also have room to work on it.

2. If I start something no matter how long it will take, finish it. If I get discouraged I will not let it affect whether or not I succeed. I will not let my surrounding factors distract me from what I really want.
